The first of two heavy trash collections in Decatur will be held Monday through Friday, April 6-10, city officials have announced.
The heavy items will be collected on the normal schedule for the collection of trash.

In the event of an unusually large number of items, city employees could run behind schedule, officials have noted.
Local residents are asked to have their heavy items at curbside by 7 a.m. on their collection day.
Items that will not be picked up are: home improvement materials, carpeting, appliances with Freon, and electronics.
Anyone with questions may call the city sanitation department, 724-3356.
EASTER CLOSING: It has also been announced that City Hall in Decatur will be closed on Friday, April 3, ahead of Easter on April 5.
The trash collection schedule will run as normal on April 3.
People wishing to pay a utility bill can use the utility drop box behind City Hall or go to: www.cityofdecatur.in.gov.
NOT FLUSHABLE!: A recurring problem cropped up again at the latest meeting of Decatur City Council.
“We have been noticing a lot of wipes in our sewer pipes,” Wastewater Superintendent Karey Fuelling told council.
“They are not flushable, please put them in the garbage,” she added.
Fuelling has said at more than a few council meetings that “flushables are not flushables,” referring to wipes that are promoted as something that may be flushed down toilets but in fact can plug sewers.
