A large police presence Monday afternoon in Decatur was explained when the Decatur Police Department announced Monday evening that a body had been pulled from the St. Marys River earlier in the afternoon.
Deputy Chief of Police Chris Brite confirmed that a body of a male Caucasian was taken from “near the River Greenway Trail.”
News of the large police presence in the afternoon created quite a stir within the community.
According to Brite, police do not believe foul play was involved in the man’s death.
Identification of the deceased will not take place until after notification of next of kin.
The Adams County EMS, Coroner, Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Unit were also involved in the afternoon investigation.
