FLATROCK – A 22-point performance from Gradin Swoveland was too much for the Heritage Patriots Friday night as the visitors fought off a late comeback attempt and held on for a 59-53 victory, clinching the regular season ACAC title.
Heritage looked on their way to breaking their skid at two games, taking the lead after the first quarter at 14-13 and looking good in their Pink Out uniforms.

The defense, however, left them in the second quarter and Swoveland, along with Jay Comer and Gab Overton, lit up the gym with a 20-point effort to give the visitors a six-point lead at the half.
Overton went on to finish with 14 points, while Comer had 12.

Jay County’s hot shooting continued in the third and they allowed just nine Heritage points to put the game likely out of reach with a 14-point margin.
A late run by the home team saw them cut that lead down to the final six-point margin.

Kingston Galentine and Taurean Brown led the home Patriots with 15 points apiece.

Lucas Taylor also had ten points for Heritage, who lost to Jay County for the second time this season. The JC Patriots beat Heritage in the ACAC tournament final back in January.

Heritage will play Tuesday night at North Side, where they’ll try to beat the Legends for the second straight season. Coach Shabaz Khaliq’s team is 11-8.
