BLUFFTON – The Heritage Patriots will have to settle for a spoiler’s role and a chance at just a share of the ACAC regular season title after dropping a tough game in the Tiger Den at Bluffton Saturday night, 59-56, on a buzzer-beating three by Maddox White to win the tilt.
The Tigers jumped out to a big lead early in the game, doubling up their guests at one point (26-13). The Patriots took much of the rest of the game to climb back into the contest.
Late in the fourth quarter, Kingston Galentine attempted to draw the Patriots back into the game, knocking down a three with 80 seconds remaining to cut the Bluffton lead to 50-45.

13 seconds later, the visitors forced a turnover with a trap and Galentine made it a two-point game with another three. Jaxon Feasby also hit a three with a man in his face, but the Patriots could never get to the point where the game was even.
At least not until they found Lucas Taylor in the corner. His three with 13 seconds left to play finally brought the Patriots to a tie ballgame at 56-56. That set up the freshman White for his heroics.
The two teams combined for 20 points in the final 80 seconds.
Heritage will play at Norwell Tuesday night, while Bluffton will be at Manchester.
