The Adams Central Flying Jets seem to be peaking at the right time and a win over South Side Saturday afternoon (51-41) means coach Tim Hildebrand’s team has now won four of their past five contests. The Jets will need just one win from their final three games of the regular season to end a run of four straight seasons with a losing record.
The first and foremost task for the Jets was to keep South Side’s star – BriTanya Diedrich-Williams – in check. While Diedrich-Williams did lead all scorers with 27 points, it was the way the Jets limited her runs that made the difference. She made 11 shots in the game, but never more than three in an eight-minute quarter.

The Adams Central defense held the rest of the team to just six made shots.
Ava Stafford led the Jets with 24 points , knocking down clutch free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win. She had three buckets in the first quarter to get the Jets out to an early lead.
Adams Central led 24-19 at half, with Diedrich-Williams outscoring Stafford 15-12 in the first half.

It was an impressive performance by the Jets in the fourth quarter at the free throw line, as they knocked down 9 of 11 shots to seal the deal.
Adams Central Scoring: Stafford 24, Fisher 10, Hendricks 8, Landis 3, Ringger 3, Brotherton 2
South Side Scoring: Bri’Tanya Diedrich-Williams 27, Autry 9, BryLee Diedrich-Williams 3, Shetler 2
The Jets will find out their draw for the state tournament live on WZBD on Sunday at 6 p.m.
