UNIONDALE – The Bellmont Braves weren’t quite competitive enough to challenge for the conference title like their counterparts, but they still had plenty of outstanding individual performances worth celebrating.
Finishing sixth out of the seven swimming schools in the conference, the Braves got great days from sophomores Izabella Werling, Braelyn Radecki and Tori McCullough.
Notes & Times:
-The Braves may have finished 7th in the medley relay, but the competition was tough and the team still managed a season-best time. Izabella Werling, Madeline Witte, Sydney Bessesen and Brae Radecki combined for a time of 2:20.12.
-Sophomore Tori McCullough swam a season best to take 8th in the 200 Free, just one spot behind teammate and senior Ella Hockemeyer.
-Izabella Werling set an individual career best in the IM to take eighth place for the Braves in 2:43.43.
-Freshman Sydney Bessesen set a career best in the 50 Free, shaving a full half second off her previous mark at Huntington North earlier this season. Teammate Braelyn Radecki also had a career best and was two spots behind Bessesen in 11th.
-Ella Hockemeyer finished in fourth place in the 100 Free and swam her season best.
-Werling had another impressive performance in the 500, taking sixth to score points for the Braves with a season and career best that cut 15 seconds from her previous mark.
-The Braves finished off their afternoon with another great relay performance, finishing fourth. Werling swam the opening leg and continued her fine day and she was followed by McCullough, Bessesen and Hockemeyer. The Braves’ time of 4:17.93 was more than ten seconds better than any other team attempt this season.
