The Bellmont Braves dominated the first half against New Haven Saturday, building a 60-4 lead at halftime before finishing up an 89-10 win in the NE8.
Lanie French led all scorers with 18 points, all in the first three quarters.
Kaitlyn Barton had one of her best career performances with 17 points, while Mary Bleke added 14 and Ashley Bleke 12.

Now 12-1 on the year, the Braves will have the winter break off before embarking on the toughest stretch of their season in the first two weeks of January. Matchups against state-ranked sides will hopefully prepare the team for a run at the state title in 3A.
In the ACAC, Jay County jumped out to a 30-11 lead in the first quarter and never let the Starfires back into the game, rolling to a 75-44 victory.

Ana Lehman went 8 of 9 from the free throw line and had 23 points. Laney Trausch added 16 points.
“They really came out hitting on all cylinders,” said South Adams head coach Brett Freeman. “As our girls play more and develop their games, we hope to be in that position to compete with them on a yearly basis.”
Meanwhile, in boys’ action, the Heritage Patriots won a second game in 24 hours by beating Northrop in the afternoon at home. Kingston Galentine had another superb game, leading the team with 18 points, while Taurean Brown had 13 in the victory.

The Patriots are now 6-1 on the year, with their only loss to Blackhawk Christian (5-2), who are ranked #11 in 3A.
