Senior Ella Hockemeyer posted a career best in the 50 Free to win first place and guide the Bellmont Braves to a convincing win in the Blackford pool Thursday night.
Hockemeyer’s margin of victory was an impressive four seconds in the down-and-back race and the senior went on to win the 100 Free, as well.
To wrap up the meet, Hockemeyer swam the anchor leg of the 400 relay, clocking the best time of any county team this season in the victory.
Notes & Times:
-Tori McCullough swam a season best and won the 200 for the Braves, coming within a second of last year’s career best.
-Chloe Post swam her career best in the 50 alongside her classmate, Hockemeyer.
-Braelyn Radecki did not swim in the varsity heat, but her outstanding time of 32.38 would have put her in second in the 50 behind Hockemeyer. Radecki will eventually be diving for coach Norby’s team later in the season.
-After swimming a career best in the Norwell Invite, Izabella Werling lowered her standard to 1:23.43 to win the backstroke Thursday.
-Izabella Werling was the 500 swimmer for the Braves and she swam the fastest time this year for the team, only three seconds off her freshman season-best.
