An exciting season of boys swim finally got underway Thursday at the Blackford pool, with the Bellmont Braves entering three teams in the freestyle relays and showing off their impressive numbers for 2025-26 in an easy win over Blackford.
Notes & Times:
-Bellmont’s top relay team from last year, the medley, teamed up again for a blistering-fast start to the season. Returning from last year’s team that reached the A Final were Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre. They won in 1:52.98, just 4.6 seconds off last year’s season best at the Jay County sectional.
-Logan Whitacre’s hard work in the offseason showed Thursday as he surpassed his best total of his career with a total of 238.5 points to win the diving portion of the meet. Whitacre is the two-time returning NE8 champ in diving.
