The Heritage Patriots entered this season with just two wins in their last 42 games over the past three seasons.
After Tuesday night, they’ve already got three victories and they’ve become a hungry team, ready to break a long losing streak in the ACAC of 16 games against conference opponents. Coach Jason Miller’s team won on the road, 34-29, against Lakeland Christian, a team that beat them last season.

The Patriots might have been a little less stressed on the drive home in the cold and snowy winter weather if not for a 7 for 18 night at the free throw line as they gave the Cougars plenty of chances to get back into the game, despite the fact that they led for basically the entire contest.

To their credit, the Patriots started the night 2 of 10 in the opening three quarters, but knocked down 5 of 8 in the final stanza to hold on to their third win of the year.
Molly Krey led the team with nine points. Three players finished with six points apiece – Kierstyn Hess, Elise Hissong and Riley Roy.

Olivia Lybarger knocked down three big free throws in the fourth quarter for her only points of the game.

Heritage took care of the ball, committing just eight turnovers against the Cougar defense.

The Patriots will host South Side Thursday before prepping for their ACAC game against South Adams Saturday, which can be heard on WZBD, 92.7 FM.
