Nick Hall has resigned his position as head football coach at Bellmont High School, WZBD has learned Monday, with the program poised to head in a new direction for the 2026 season.

Hall, who was the star of the program’s 2008 state title season as a player, stepped into a difficult position late in July of 2020 in the midst of the COVID pandemic when Eric Davis walked away from the program after an 0-10 record in 2019.
With little time to prepare and build a staff, Hall guided the program through the 2020 season and its many challenges.
In 2021 the team ended a losing streak of 26 games with a home win over DeKalb. It was, in retrospect, the only victory in his tenure as the team went on to lose the next 42 games, with this year’s seniors failing to win a varsity game in their four years with the program.
Hall’s final record will stand at 1-57 over six seasons. He is currently employed as a PE teacher at the high school.
Word of Hall’s resignation quickly spread throughout the local football community. South Adams head coach was quick to offer a comment on coach Hall’s time at Bellmont.
“I really enjoyed getting to know Coach Hall over the last couple years,” noted Moser, whose team just finished a postseason run at semi-state. “I enjoyed talking about football, opponents, raising kids and just life in general with him on Saturday mornings during WZBD’s Coaches Show. It was always evident that he cared about his players and the Bellmont community.”
The program has been marred with athletes walking away from the team after playing as freshmen or sophomores. The coach was left frustrated this summer with as many as 50 or 60 players in spring and early summer camps dwindling down to as little as 30 players when the first official practice began.
WZBD will provide updates on the search to replace Hall in the coming months.
