The opening game of the Jason Miller era at Heritage ended in a 50-31 loss at Leo, but there were plenty of positives for the team in their inaugural game of 2025-26.
In the past two seasons, the Patriots had managed point totals of just 23 and 14 against the Lions, so Thursday’s offensive output is definitely an upgrade for Miller’s young team.
Audrey Meyer knocked down three shots from behind the arc in the second half to lead the team in scoring with eleven.

The Patriots hung with Leo in the opening quarter, but they struggled to handle Luci Schott, who scored seven of her game-high 15 points in the opening eight minutes. The home team led Heritage 15-10 at the break, but jumped out to a 32-14 lead at the break after the Patriots managed just one bucket in the second quarter.
Elise Hissong and Audrey Meyer knocked down threes in the third quarter, but the Lions went inside to Leah Shappell, the 6′ center for Leo, and she made five of six free throws and two more buckets to put the game away for the home team.

Heritage will be back in action on Tuesday against Garrett. The home opener for the Patriots will be on Monday, November 17th against Hamilton in a game that will be broadcast live on 92.7 FM as part of our tripleheader of back-to-back-to-back girls’ games to kick off the season.
