Adams Central scored seven touchdowns in the first half against Southern Wells and saw out the second half with efficiency and speed to stay healthy for their ACAC-championship showdown with Bluffton in Week 8, beating the Raiders on the road, 48-7.

The Jets racked up 379 yards on the ground and converted 6 of 8 third downs to dominate their long-time football rivals.

Using the game against the smallest school in the conference as an opportunity to avoid heavy workloads and avoid injuries, the Adams Central coaching staff never called a player’s number more than seven times, handing the ball off to ten different players.

Both quarterback Jami Roach and running back Max Nussbaum got seven carries, with Roach leading all players with 134 yards and three touchdowns.

Braylend Reber had an 88-yard touchdown run and picked up 44 more yards on two other touches for another impactful night.
The Jets needed to complete just three passes to keep the Raiders honest, and two of them from Roach went for TDs – one to Reece Hammond and the other to Joey Everett.

Trey Slusher picked up much of his yardage once the running clock came into play for Southern Wells. He finished 15 of 24 for 174 yards and the final score of the game to keep the Raiders from being shut out.

The Jets had eight tackles for loss as a team, with Xander Schwartz leading the way with six tackles overall.
The #1 team in 2A moved to 7-0 and they’ll take on fellow undefeated Bluffton, ranked #7 in 2A. One interesting storyline could be how both teams honor the regular season meeting for the conference title, with full knowledge that most prognosticators predict that the neighboring schools will meet again at some point in the sectional.

The Week 8 showdown for the outright ACAC title will be played on the turf at Bluffton and will be WZBD’s Featured Game of the Week on 92.7 FM.
