MONROE – With three minutes to go in the first half, the South Adams Starfires were doing everything they could to go into halftime trailing 7-0 against the #1 team in 2A in Indiana, Adams Central. Instead, the Stars’ rivals scored three touchdowns in the final two and a half minutes to seize control of the game and check it off their list of ACAC victories needed to secure another conference title with a 35-7 victory.

Jamison Roach scored three times on QB keepers as the Jets took care of the ball, setting the tone for the game with a meticulous 15-play scoring drive to start the game in front of a huge crowd. Roach finished the night with 107 yards on the ground to lead all players. He only needed one pass completion to keep South Adams honest, hitting Joey Everett for 48 yards.

The Jets were all over Tytus Lehman, sacking him twice and picking off four passes. The Stars’ only score came once they were already trailing by 35 points. Lehman took it in from two yards out to cap off a 16-play, 87-yard drive that seemingly ate up the entire second half.

Vance Miller and Thomas Laughlin each had touchdown runs for the Jets, with Miller picking up 74 yards on 11 carries and Laughlin 88 yards on eight touches. Laughlin also had a sack on the other side of the ball.
Braylend Reber had two of the AC picks, while Reece Hammond and Xander Schwartz had the other two.

South Adams had one of their better running games of the season, finding 136 yards rushing against a Jet defense that has allowed just seven touchdowns all season.
Cam Fravel led the Jets with six solo tackles, including a sack of Lehman.

Kaleb Minger, Wes Summersett and Nathan Plattner all had nine tackles for the Starfires.
With the rivalry game out of the way and the two teams again in separate classes for this season, Adams Central and South Adams will wait until next season to renew their rivalry. Both teams won regional titles last year and will hope to defend those again this year.
It is likely that the two rivals will be playing 2A football in the same sectional come 2026.

The Starfires will take on Jay County next week. That game can be heard on WPGW Friday. The Jets will be playing Southern Wells.
