The Bellmont Braves shocked the East Noble Knights with an early goal Wednesday evening in NE8 play, but the away side clawed their way back into the game and eventually took the long bus ride home with a comfortable 4-1 win that put them up into second place in the conference, still retaining a chance at a shared title next week.

The Knights will hold out a small bit of hope that Columbia City can somehow defeat Leo next week and allow them to play New Haven with a shot at a 6-1 finish in the conference standings and a shared NE8 title.

The Braves jumped out to an early lead in this game thanks to a great display of passing and execution, with Jack Johnson providing an excellent finish for the 1-0 lead.

Peyton Straessle put the Knights even later in the half, though, and the two teams went to their halftime talk at 1-1.
Aladean Sawal and Abdullah Shamman combined for three goals in the second half to give the Knights the victory.

Bellmont will play DeKalb on Monday to round out the regular season. The team’s record in 2025 stands at 1-13.
