With four minutes left to play Friday night, the intense game between Adams Central and Heritage lay in the balance between a monumental upset for the Pats and one of those games the Jets love to win.

Then, in a game full of long drives, it was a two-play drive, ending with a long touchdown run by Vance Miller that separated the two old ACAC foes.

The two teams played an incredibly similar game against the other, with Lucas Weber carrying the ball 30 times for the Patriots, making up 144 yards of the team’s 199 yards of offense. Meanwhile, the Jets split their carries like usual between Jamison Roach and Miller. The two AC weapons had 31 carries combined for 198 yards.

Heritage played without their starting quarterback from earlier in the year, Zeb Tigulis. Instead, Weber did all the work himself, even completing a pass to Lantae Cassell for 36 yards.

The game, however, was played on the ground for the visitors. Myles Pattee’s only touch of the game saw him score from 29 yards out midway through the second quarter to shock the home crowd.

Roach and Miller responded and drove Adams Central down the field and it was Roach who found Braylend Reber for one of his four catches of the night to tie it just before halftime.
The Patriots stayed in the game by creating three turnovers on the night. Max Mirelez had an INT and Heritage also recovered two fumbles. The defense held Adams Central to just eleven first downs.

The visitors failed to capitalize on those turnovers, giving the ball right back to Adams Central on four occasions with failed attempts on fourth down.

Each team forced three punts.
Adams Central will face an intriguing matchup in Week 6 when they host South Adams in WZBD’s featured game of Week 6, which can be heard on 92.7 FM.

For Heritage, they are the odd man out in the ACAC in Week 6. They’ll return home to host Tipton and Heritage fans can hear that contest on our YouTube channel as part of another quadruple-header from the WPGW/WZBD family.
