The Carroll Chargers took care of the Bellmont Braves in a quick three sets Wednesday night, cementing their spot as the very best varsity volleyball team in northeast Indiana, winning 25-10, 25-18, 25-18.
The defending 4A state champions, Carroll pushed the Braves from the very beginning. Bellmont coach Craig Krull went eleven girls deep on his bench but did not find any answers for the talent of the Chargers.
Showing just how tough it was to score against the champs, MaryKate Scheumann was the only Brave on the scoresheet with more than three kills, leading the home team with 14. Scheumann also led the Braves with ten digs.
Gracie Riggs and Lilly Selking split the setting duties, with eleven and eight assists, respectively.
Bellmont will attempt to regroup and refocus on the NE8 title race with a match at New Haven on Thursday night.
