We take a look at WZBD at a very, very busy weekend of cross country meets around the state, with every team in Z-Land in action across two different states.
Marion Invitational: Adams Central, Southern Wells, Heritage (Boys and Girls competing in Gold Race)
Tiffin Carnival: Bellmont (Boys in Division II Race)
Spencerville Invitational: South Adams and Bellmont Girls (Black Division Race)
At Marion
Ethan Crockett continued to build on his outstanding season by taking the first-place ribbon in the Gold Varsity race at Saturday’s Marion Invite, running a 16:39.3.
The boys varsity race ended in dramatic fashion with Ethan Crockett taking the lead in the final step of the race.
“I led the race for 0.02 seconds but it was the 0.02 seconds that mattered,” he said after the win.
With approximately 300 meters to go Ethan trailed the leader by about 15 meters and he stepped on the gas to the finish. He won the race by 0.3 seconds on the official time.

Crockett’s time was actually six seconds slower than what he ran at Taylor last Saturday for the Jets.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ race, Heritage’s Rosalinda Medina set a new school record with her Top-20 finish, crossing the line in 21:36.7. Her time broke the previous school mark, set by Lilly Biggins of 21:47.

At Tiffin
Things did not go well for the Bellmont Braves, who have been attending the Tiffin Carnival race with dozens of teams from Ohio for decades. The team competed shorthanded without Logan Whitacre and Maddux Miller is still working his way to full health, although he did finish the race. Gavin Braun dealt with an injury mid-race and Hudson Krull was un-shoed midway through the race and had to pause to get his boot back on.
