Lucas Weber ran wild over the Woodlan Warriors Friday night on his home field, returning from an injury sustained the week prior to lead the Heritage Patriots to a 42-21 win in the ACAC opener.

Weber ran for 186 yards and three touchdowns as the Heritage ground game dominated the Woodlan defense. The home team led after three quarters 35-7.

Weber also had three catches for thirty yards and he would have had a fourth touchdown, but a 70-yard punt return was called back because of a penalty. He also made all six extra points and pinned Woodlan back with seven outstanding kickoffs.

The Patriots also had a three-touchdown night from Jake Krauss, who has proven himself to be a great second option for coach Jeremy Hullinger’s team that is likely to keep both boys fresh and in better shape at the end of big games coming up on the schedule.

Zeb Tigulis managed the game well in the win, throwing for 134 yards on 14 of 17 passing, while also running for 31 yards.

Heritage ended the game with 313 yards rushing.

Woodlan found their success on the big play, with Griffin Clear putting the Warriors on the scoreboard in the final two minutes of the first half with a 42-yard score to Shaiden Snyder. Noah Ames scored on two long touchdowns in the fourth quarter when the final result was not in question.

While the Warriors ended the game with 226 total yards of offense, 116 of them came on the two plays by Ames. The other 110 took a lot of work against a very tough Heritage defense.
What follows for the 3-0 Heritage Patriots is a pair of trips to Adams County to take on South Adams and Adams Central. The Patriots will need to be ready for the wild and crazy passing game of Tytus Lehman and the Starfires in Berne in Week 4.
South Adams’ offense will be a stark contrast to what the Patriots saw from Woodlan on Friday night.
With the win, the Patriots moved to #11 in the state Sagarin ratings in 3A.
