Lyla Post had a career first on the front nine holes at Whispering Creek Wednesday night and the Bellmont Braves scored a pair of victories over NE8 rivals New Haven and Leo with a solid, consistent team performance.
Significant for Post, a junior, was her first career birdie on the fifth hole (Par 3). It led her to a round of 48, four strokes better on the front than she was in Saturday’s Bulldog Invite. She shot a 44 on the back Saturday in the best round of her career.
“The girls did amazing,” noted BHS head coach Mike Macke, “and continued their fine play as of late. The 188 is our lowest on a par 36 course, and all of the girls showed great resiliency. The course has 3 or 4 holes which can result in big numbers but the girls persevered.”

The Braves were led by Ella Hockemeyer’s 43, which won medalist honors. The team is now 7-2 on the year and 4-1 in the NE8. They’ll play in the Bi-County tournament at Timber Ridge Saturday.
