Head coach Grant Moser knew exactly what his team was getting into when they signed up to play four-time defending champions Marion Local on the road in Week 1.
They got what they wanted, regardless of the score.
While the Flyers won 56-0, South Adams learned plenty about themselves and about the level of play they need to take on some of the best teams in Indiana later in the season.
Film from Friday’s game will be valuable as the coaching staff and players evaluate what they need to in terms of scheme and execution against Bellmont in Week 2.
It will be an example of an extreme switch in opponents, with Marion Local carrying the nation’s longest winning streak, while the Bellmont Braves carry the longest winless run in the state of Indiana with their 33 consecutive losses.
The Starfires finished with just four yards of rushing, with Will Patterson leading the way with 12 yards on four carries. Tytus Lehman also gained 12 yards but he was sacked three times for a loss of 24 yards.

Coach Moser noted during Saturday morning’s coaches show on WZBD that blocking and line play will be one of the focuses in practice this week to prepare for the Braves.
Lehman was 7 of 18 through the air for 78 yards. His biggest play was a 28-yard pass to Wes Summersett. Summersett had three catches for 49 yards.
Marion Local finished with 409 yards of offense.
