PRESS RELEASE
The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that the Adams Public Library System (APLS) was recently awarded a grant for Adult Life Skills Classes.
These classes and programs will meet the informational needs of the community, ages 18 and older, by offering free educational classes in the meeting rooms of the Geneva and Decatur libraries and will cover topics such as basic financial literacy and budgeting, tips for employment seeking, strategies for mental health self-care, parenting and family skills, and any others identified as being important to fulfilling the needs of the community.
To learn more about the upcoming classes, please visit the Adams Public Library System website: www.apls.lib.in.us or call the Decatur Branch (260) 724-2605 or Geneva branch (260) 368-7270.
Laura Schwartz, Geneva Library Branch Manager, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for this support. Joe Selking, ACCF grants committee member, noted that the ACCF is pleased to support the library system and their efforts to meet the needs of the community.
Kelly Ehinger, APLS director, reported that these family-friendly educational events for the adults are very helpful for residents.
According to the ACCF, this grant was made possible through unrestricted funds sponsored by the Don Wood Family Community Enrichment Fund. Don Wood was a well-known respected businessman, innovator, and pacesetter from Columbia City, Indiana. With the support of his two sons, John and Doug, the three started a business. The Wood family grew 80/20 Inc. in Whitley County.
The ACCF strives to uphold the reputation of the Wood family and works to promote the generosity of the Wood Family Fund.
