Charlie Riddle finished second in the shot put for Heritage in the highly-competitive Tony Fey Bluffton Thrower Showcase Saturday, competing alongside potential state medalists from all over the area.
The meet was dominated by Churubusco’s Weston Ott, who took both the discus and the shot for the Eagles.

Ott’s winning distance in the shot put was actually longer than every other competitor at last year’s state meet – except for state champion Nylan Brown of Ben Davis. Brown graduated last year, as did last year’s runner-up Dane Sebert of Eastside.
Ott was third last June behind Brown and Sebert.

Riddle was second with a throw of 54-08, three feet short of his season best from the New Haven Relays.

Wyatt Garland was seventh for the Patriots with a new PR by 3.5 inches.
In the discus, Ott was 21 inches better than Bret Sauder of Leo. His winning distance would have been a top-ten performance at last year’s State Finals.
Heritage’s Brock Taylor set a new PR in the discus, finishing in 14th place.
