A big matchup between two of the top teams in the area will take place on May 20th when DeKalb goes to Leo to take on the Lions, with the Barons holding on to NE8 hopes with an easy 15-3 win over Bellmont at home Thursday night.
DeKalb scored four runs in the first, then five more in both the second and third to put the game away in the first three innings. Senior Bryson Gadson got 14 of the 15 outs, allowing four hits and three runs (one earned).
Beau Baker started the game for Bellmont and allowed nine runs, picking up three of his four outs via strikeout before being removed in favor of senior Will Franze, who was tagged for six more runs in relief.
Will Baker got the final two outs of the bottom of the fourth with one strikeout. He also had a double at the plate for the Braves.
Oliver Werling extended his hit streak to five games with a double.
Bellmont will play two at FW Northrop on Saturday.
