Senior right-hander Anthony Antonuccio struck out 11 batters Monday night in Bishop Luers’ 8-3 win over Adams Central at the Ash Center in Fort Wayne.
The Luers ace, who had an ERA of 2.92 last season, allowed just six hits en route to the victory. The Jets got to Antonuccio in the top of the first with hits by Max Byerly and Ethan Funk, taking advantage of a stolen base to get an early lead, but the Knights came right back and answered in the bottom half of the inning.
Funk was the only batter for the Jets to get a hit over the next four innings as the Luers starter settled into his role.

Barrett Collier started the game for Adams Central on the mound. He was knocked out of the game in the fourth inning and eventually charged with all eight runs. He struck out two.
Carson Ross and Jacob Miller each threw a scoreless inning of relief.

Adams Central did mount one rally late in the game. Miller drove in Hayden Bluhm with a two-out single, then scored on a based-loaded walk by Byerly.
Adams Central will focus on resuming the game with Heritage on Wednesday, which was suspended at the end of 13 innings.
