Ethan Funk threw two innings of one-hit ball and Jamison Roach did the same over five innings of relief, striking out five, to combine for a shutout of the Whitko Wildcats and a 3-0 win.
The only other blemish for the two hurlers was a hit batsmen, otherwise the Wildcats did not come close to breaking through against the visiting Jets.
All three AC runs came in the top of the fourth. Lawson Deathe and Funk walked to start the inning, with Deathe stealing second during Funk’s at-bat. A couple of wild pitches allowed Deathe to score the game’s first run and led to Jacob Miller being walked, as well.
Reece Hammond then drove home Funk with a productive RBI groundout and Hayden Bluhm scored Miller with the first hit of the game from either team.
The only other hit in the contest for the victorious Jets was a leadoff single in the seventh by Carson Ross.
The Jets will face fellow ACAC unbeaten Bluffton Tuesday in a key battle for the conference crown.
