Home course advantage was evident in Thursday’s victory for the Bellmont Braves, as they navigated the back nine at Cross Creek to the tune of a 34-stroke victory in the NE8 over the East Noble Knights, 165-199.

Bellmont’s ace, Owen Minnick, was medalist with the only round in the 30s, shooting a three-over 39 to lead the Braves.

Minnick took advantage of the Par 5s of the old course, going -1 on No. 15 and No. 18 to remind the coaching staff why he is the No. 1 for the Braves.
The Braves were supposed to begin the season Tuesday, but the weather forced the season opener to also be the NE8 opener.

“It was a pretty good score for our first effort,” said assistant coach Mike Macke after the Braves’ round of 165. “It was breezy and chilly, but the guys kept it together.”
Cameron Summers played the final four holes at par to finish second for the Braves with a 41, while Ben Binegar shot a 42.

Two freshmen made their high school debuts as varsity golfers, with Chase Baker finishing in the mix with a 43 and Jacob Binegar right behind him with a 44.
