Adams County Transit’s new 8-bay garage is nearing completion and the system’s vehicles should be using the structure in the next week or two.
A concrete apron in front of the garage is completed.
Next up is electrical work, along with water and gas hookups.
The building is located along 12th St., just south of Dayton Ave., near the MERIT Center, where the Council on Aging is located.
The council operates the transit system.

The garage will prove extremely valuable next winter, providing shelter and heat for the transit system’s eight vehicles, some of which use hydraulics.
Martin Schwartz Construction has the contract for the concrete and foundation work.
DH Electric is the contractor for the electrical work, to be followed by HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) installation by Liechty Bros.
An old building was demolished by Luginbill Excavating to provide room for the garage.
Mark Wynn is the manager for Adams County’s garage project.
Council on Aging Director Michelle Lengerich heads the transit system which marked its first anniversary last January.
