
An 83-year-old Willshire man who was injured in a tractor accident Tuesday afternoon has died from his injuries.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed Larry Caffee passed away after being taken to a Fort Wayne hospital where he was initially treated following the incident.
Tuesday afternoon, just before 2 p.m., rescue personnel responded to the 10000 block of State Route 49, west of Rockford.
Caffee had been driving a tractor with a front end loader while pulling a utility trailer when the tractor overturned and went down an embankment and into a river.
Rockford fire and EMS along the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and Chattanooga fire departments responded to the scene and freed Caffee, who was flown by air to a Fort Wayne hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
