Bluffton edged out Norwell and Delta for the sectional crown Saturday at Jay County, while Adams County’s two divers both advanced to the Tuesday regional.
Notes & Times:
-Bellmont’s medley relay team of Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre scratched a few more seconds off their season-best time from the prelims and finished in fifth.
-The Starfire medley team cut two seconds off their time from the prelims and turned in their best performance of the year, with Griffin Hill, Brayden Hough, Braylon Shoch and Adam Stahly swimming a 1:57.31.
-Bellmont freshman Ben Goble became the first Adams County swimmer in at least four years to break the two-minute mark in the 200, winning the B Final with a time (1:58.73) that was not only his season best, but also would have been good enough for seventh in the A Final.
-Bellmont’s Oliver Werling swam a career best to finish fourth in the IM. Much like Goble’s swim, it was the fastest time of any county swimmer in years. Teammate Hudson Krull also swam a career best to take seventh as the Braves placed two in the A Final.
-Damon Light took home the diving title for AC with Bellmont’s Logan Whitacre coming in second. Both divers will compete Tuesday at Fishers.
-Ben Goble also swam a career best in the 100 Free, finishing fifth in the B Final.
-Samson Owens shaved a fraction of a second from his career-best time in the Prelims to take seventh in the B Final for Bellmont.
-Ben Goble was the first in the pool for the Braves’ 200 Free relay team, which captured sixth place with the best time by a county foursome in two years. Joining him were Logan Whitacre, Oliver Goble and Hudson Krull.
-Zayne Roop cut over a second from his career best and finished fourth in the backstroke for Bellmont.
-Brayden Hough finished third in the breaststroke, cutting half a second from his prelim time for a career best.
