Bellmont’s three relay teams all finished in the top six and will compete in Saturday’s A Finals at the Jay County swim sectional, but it was rough going for most swimmers in Z Land in the difficult meet. The top eight in each event will swim in the A Final Saturday, with the winner qualifying for the IHSAA State Meet.
Notes & Times:
-Bellmont’s medley relay continued to turn in great times, smashing their season record with a time under 1:49 to take fourth place. It was the fastest time in years for the Braves, with Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre teaming up to put the team in position to pull off an upset and maybe finish as high as third Saturday.
-South Adams also had a great medley relay, breaking the two-minute mark for the first time this year. Griffin Hill, Brayden Hough, Braylon Schoch and Adam Stahly will swim in the A Final after their eighth-place finish.
-Bellmont’s Ben Goble finished 11th in the 200 Free. The freshman swam his best career time of 2:01.78.
-Samson Owens shattered his own PR to take 16th and reach the B Final in the 200 Free.
-Bellmont’s Oliver Werling had a sensational swim in the 200 IM, doing a career best to take fourth place in a talented field.
-Teammate Hudson Krull also reached the A Final with a season best of 2:15.34.
-Brayden Hough swam a season best and just missed the A Final in the IM.
-Kale Rathbun of AC snook his way into the B Final in the 50 with a season best. He also swam a season best in the Fly.
-Zayne Roop made the B Final for the Braves with a career best in the Fly of 1:01.25.
-Braylon Schoch bettered his time from the ACAC to reach the B Final with a season-best time of 54.15.
-Ben Goble also turned in a season-best 100 Free time, finishing in 15th place in 54.96.
-Bellmont’s Oliver Goble cut seven seconds from his season best to take 13th place in the 500. Teammate Samson Owens also swam a season best in the event.
-Zayne Roop also swam a season best in the 100 Back and made the A Final with teammate Oliver Werling.
-Sophomore Logan Whitacre of Bellmont swam a season best in the backstroke and made the B Final.
-South Adams’ Brayden Hough made the A final and is less than two seconds behind James Wheeler for a shot at the State Finals in the breaststroke.
-Hudson Krull cut .42 from his season-best time at the NE8 meet to finish fourth in the breaststroke.
-Bellmont’s 400 relay team of Oliver and Ben Goble, Zayne Roop and Oliver Werling bettered their time from the NE8 to finish fifth and reach the A Final.
