Phylis A. Ulman, 87, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born in Decatur, on November 12, 1937, the daughter of the late John Weaver and Ada (Finkenhousen) Weaver. On July 18, 1959, she married Gerald R. Ulman, and after 64 years together he preceded her in death on November 22, 2023.

She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church/Grace First Community Church in Decatur. She volunteered in many capacities, but her passion was the flower garden committee.
Phylis loved playing cards and belonged to a card club since the 1960s.
She was also a former member of the Three Rivers dog therapy program where she visited nursing homes and county homes with her loyal companions. They brought much happiness and comfort to nursing home patients.
Phylis was the nuts and bolts behind Ulman Carpet Cleaning alongside her husband Jerry Ulman. She was also an employee at Bellmont Middle School as a lunch lady until she retired.
She is survived by her 3 children, Dave (Sherry) Ulman, Rhonda (Jeff) McIntosh, and Tim (Kelly) Ulman all of Decatur; 5 grandchildren, Danielle Ulman, Katelyn (Tyler) Engstrom, Kodee McIntosh, Nate Ulman, and John Ulman; 2 great-grandchildren, Max and Ella Engstrom; 1 brother, Donald Weaver of Convoy, OH.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Paul, Glenn, Thomas, Dickie, Bill Weaver, and also a brother in infancy, and 7 sisters, Alma Weaver, Arlene Zinn, Norma Feasel, Mary E. Heller, Cleva Myers, Barbara Gehres, and Helen Schindler.
Visitation will be from 3 – 7 pm, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with visitation 1 hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Pastor Amy Lee will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
