Bellmont put on a scoring clinic using the modern scoring rules on Retro Night in the birthplace of wrestling in Decatur and beat Yorktown 49-23.
Coach Tim Myers’ team registered more tech falls (5) than pins (4), showing off throwback singlets and wrestling in tights for the first time since perhaps the 1970s.

The history of Bellmont Wrestling was honored in front of a big crowd at the old Bellmont High School, with 12th graders Gavin Davis and Ryne Fawbush coming away with wins in their penultimate home matches.
The dual meet also featured freshman Gabe Myers at 126 for the first time this season, pushing Ethan Curtis up to 132.
All nine of Bellmont’s wins ended the bout early.
The Braves have the weekend off as they focus on hosting Rival Night for the club and the Middle School dual at home Saturday. They will wrestle again at the current Bellmont High School Tuesday against a tough Carroll team.
