A new year means it is time for the annual renewal of licensing for golf carts and UTVs (ultra terrain vehicles) in Decatur.
The renewals may be done at the city police station on Seventh St. during business hours, 8 a.m. to p.m. Monday through Friday.
The department emphasizes that vehicles need not be brought to the station to obtain a 2025 sticker.
If, however, you have a new golf cart or UTV and need it registered, you will need to bring the actual vehicle to the PD for its initial inspection and registration.

What is needed is the owner’s five-digit registration number and proof of current insurance.
Golf carts fees remain at $30, cash or check. There is no charge for UTVs due to state fees.
The department issued the following reminder: Do not remove the blue registration sticker on the vehicle; that number and sticker will stay with your vehicle for its life.
