The City of Decatur has a new firefighter, one who is already in the business.
Fire Chief Jeff Sheets informed the city’s board of works and safety at its latest meeting that Dominick Brown has joined the fire department on a full-time basis.

Brown, a Decatur-area resident, has been a member of the Monroe volunteer Fire Department for the past year and a half.
He fills the position vacated last May by Nick Patton.
Patton had been on the department for 22 months and stepped down to devote more time to his business, Patton Tree Trimming LLC.
He remains a member of the PD’s reserve force.
A 2011 graduate of Bellmont High School, Brown is a sub-contractor specializing in flooring. He and his wife, Michelle, have four children who are home schooled: Brooklyn, Silas, Jensen and Lincoln.
In his free time, the chief said, Brown enjoys hiking, hunting and camping with his family.
