Two close losses to a couple of the very best programs in the state gave the Adams Central Jets a melancholy 3-2 day at the Yorktown Super Duals.
Adams Central dominated their three duals against weaker opponents, dropping just seven bouts in total, but they were forced to wrestle New Haven for a second time in five days and lost by a nearly identical score (42-25) as the match on Tuesday (44-26).
Kale Beer closed the gap on Sean Harris, taking an 11-0 loss and turning it into a 4-0 decision at 120. New Haven moved Easton Doster down to 150 and the state champ pinned Brason Schortgen. Doster tech falled Mav Dubach on Tuesday. Everything else was identical to Tuesday’s dual.
In the crossover round, the Jets were stuck with wrestling the B Team from Center Grove, missing out on an opportunity to wrestle another varsity team for seeding purposes for team state.
Adams Central led in that dual 32-16 with five bouts remaining, but the Trojans had too much in the lightweights and took third place with a 39-32 win.
Going 5-0 on the day for the Jets were Dylan Ogg, Mav Dubach, and Matt Heiser.
