It was a battle of two undefeated teams Tuesday night in the Hangar and the Adams Central Jets showed a lot of tenacity despite a 44-26 loss to the visiting New Haven Bulldogs.
The Jets won five bouts against the 3A Team State-bound team and they will wrestle each other again on Saturday in the Yorktown Super 10
With just four bouts remaining, the Jets still maintained a lead in the team score, pushing New Haven about as far as they had been pushed this season.

After Kale Beer stayed off his back against Sean Harris in the opening match at 126, Jackson Bingham came right back and scored nearfall in the first period with a double wing, going on to win by tech fall to give the Jets the lead.

New Haven got a win back at 138, but Dylan Ogg beat New Haven’s talented freshman, Malachi Thullner, with a late takedown in the third period, winning 5-2.
Brason Schortgen followed that up with a first-period fall and the home team had three wins in their first five matches.

Returning state champ Easton Doster led 13-2 after a period against Mav Dubach, but the Jet wrestler yielded just a takedown in the second and it took a Doster takedown in the third to score the tech fall, giving the Bulldogs a slim lead at 15-14.
That brought up one of the wildest matches of the evening, where a late scramble gave Ian Amstutz a 13-11 win in the final seconds. Or was it 15-11? Official Josh Howard awarded a late reversal at the buzzer to give Amstutz a 13-11 lead on the scoreboard, but an audit of the scoring after the fact showed that Amstutz was already ahead 13-11 before the reversal and should have won 15-11.
Matt Heiser and Max Nussbaum answered with falls for the Jets, giving them a 26-18 lead.

New Haven, however, outmuscled the Jets from that point on, picking up expected falls at 285, 106 and 113 after taking 215 in a 9-5 decision.
Timmy Rocha finished off the Jets by tech falling Myles Kaehr, who bumped up from 113.
