DANE FUELLING

50/50.
That’s the odds given to the Adams Central Flying Jets by the esteemed John Harrell, the most reputable source on high school football in Indiana.
Don’t talk to the Jets about odds, though. It’s all about playing the AC game plan and taking care of business.
It will be anything but easy.

After decades of being a 1A powerhouse, the Adams Central program found itself in 2A this season for the first time. While many will point to the success factor as the reason the Jets are up in the bigger class, the truth is – they would have been there whether they reached the State Finals in 1A the last three years or not. With a recorded enrollment of 408 students, there are, in fact, 19 schools smaller than Adams Central in 2A with them.
What does that mean?
It means the Jets are in 2A for the foreseeable future. And oh, how they’ve shown that they belong there.

Little did people know when the Jets stepped on the field at Garrett in Week 1 this season that a loss to a tough Railroader team would be something to hang a team’s collective hat on.
That Garrett team is now playing in the 3A semi-state in the north against Bishop Luers. They haven’t lost yet.
On a related note, 3A might just be where the Jets are headed soon.
A win on the road this week would put coach Michael Mosser’s team back in the State Finals for the fourth consecutive year. A repeat of that feat next season would see the Jets bumped up to 3A for 2026 and 2027.

Seem far-fetched? Don’t forget that the Jets have been favored in every postseason game this season with a young squad featuring many underclassmen in the skill positions.
But none of that matters to the Jets at the moment. They’re only worried about the 59ers.
Quarterback Brady Elish has thrown for 15 touchdowns this season and 1599 yards. He’s also carried the ball more than anyone else on the team, making him the most wanted man in Monroe this week.

Unlike some of the teams the Jets have faced this season, the 59ers do not have a go-to running back. They have just a few more rushing yards than passing so far in this 13-game season, with James Finley leading the way with 802 yards.

In contrast, the Jets have run for twice as many yards this season as Andrean, with Matt Heiser and Aaron Hirschy each having more yards than Finley. QB Jamison Roach is at 769 yards so far on the ground.
While the 59ers have four losses this season, they did just defeat the #1-ranked team from LCC and will be hungry to claim the upset at home Friday night over the Jets.
