We got our first look at the girls’ swim teams for Z-Land Saturday, with all three teams competing at the annual girls-only Norwell Invite to start the season.
Baylee Smith had one of the highlights of the day with her finish in the 50 for Adams Central. Smith was less than a quarter of a second from her season best last year – an impressive feat for this early in the season.
The South Adams Starfires showed that they will have some depth this season, entering two relay teams in most of the relays. The 200 Free relay team of GenaMarie Summersett, Hannah Scott, Julia Arnold and Ava Kinsey could be one to watch in the ACAC and sectional after they clocked a 1:56.34 in the season’s opening meet.
Delaney Schwartz looks set for an excellent year in the breast with her opening time of 1:27.98 for South Adams.
