Brett Freeman’s first game back in charge ended in defeat as the young South Adams Starfires started the 2024-25 season with a 61-45 loss Saturday in the StarDome.
Freeman returned to the sideline this summer to take over the program and South Adams’ fans got a first look at his team. The program is short on numbers and only able to play a full junior varsity game because of a lack of numbers.

Four freshmen were in the starting lineup for the Stars in the opener. The home side held their own and were tied 26-26 with the Panthers in the second quarter.
The Starfires knocked down 8 of 10 free throws but did not convert a three-point attempt. They committed 31 turnovers.
Leading the team in scoring was Laney Trausch with 27 points.
