The burn ban in Adams County remains in effect until further notice. Emergency personnel, including all fire chiefs in Adams County, urged the County Commissioners Tuesday to extend the burn ban until further notice. The ban covers all of Adams County, both rural areas as well as cities and towns. The restrictions do allow small fires in yards or campgrounds that are within 15 feet of a water source, are inside a fire ring or fire pit, and have someone watching over them at all times.
Meanwhile, the Adams County Government Complex will be closed Saturday to allow for the installation of a new and massive generator that will cover the building and the county Courthouse in case of a complete power failure. Maintenance Supervisor Rick Burkhalter told WZBD’s Ed Thurman about the lengthy process of installing the new generator and how badly it is needed…
Burkhalter says he hopes the work will be finished by Saturday evening, and then be ready to back up all the systems in the Complex and the County Courthouse. Motorists are urged to avoid the areas around the Courthouse and the County Government Complex this Saturday while the work is going on.
Adams County residents are also reminded that the Courthouse and the County Government Complex will be closed all day next Tuesday for Election Day. The County Commissioners meeting next week will be pushed back to Wednesday as well.
