Knowing that Columbia City would have a chance to put all five scorers in the top 15 on their home course in the NE8 meet, Bellmont head coach Randy Hisner set his team’s sights on a runner-up finish Saturday.
They delivered.
“A very satisfying day,” noted Hisner Saturday as his top runner, Hayden Whittenbarger, ran with the upper echelon of the conference, while the core of his team crossed the line successively in 13th, 14th and 15th place.

Rudy leads Braves with strong performance

For Bellmont, Sydney Angel ran her best time in a month, but it was the career-best time of Abigail Rudy that helped the Braves beat DeKalb for sixth place. The junior finished in 20:52.80 and prior to last week’s race at the New Haven Classic, she had not gone under 22 minutes this season.
Senior Madison Witte ran her best time of the season by breaking the 23-minute mark by a fraction of a second to finish in 29th place. Bre Feasel was right alongside her classmate, coming in under the 24-minute barrier for her season best.
Sophomores Lilly Franz and Bridget Juengel also had season bests as part of the Braves’ solid day.
