Seeking their second victory of the season, the Bellmont Braves fell in their regular season conference finale to NE8 rival New Haven, 3-2, Thursday.

The Braves won the opening set on each of the singles courts, but were beaten at love on the doubles courts, where they eventually lost both matches.

Layne LeMaster and Larry Knous each handed their opponents defeat with wins in the second set, but Hayden Huss dropped set #2 and set up a winner-take-all third set for the individual and team victories.
The match went all the way to the tiebreak, where Gavin Smith eventually prevailed on his home hardcourt.

The Braves are slated to play at the Delta Invite Saturday, but the effects of Hurricane Helene could render the Delaware County courts unplayable, meaning the team’s next action will come at the Norwell sectional, which begins Tuesday.
