David L. Weiland, 77, of Decatur, IN passed away Saturday morning, September 21, 2024 at his home.
David was born May 8, 1947 in Decatur to the late Wilson Weiland and the late Helen (Busick) Weiland. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
David was united in marriage to Rosemarie Annunziata on August 29, 1969 in New York, NY, and she survives.
David was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur. He always enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Decatur Bass Masters for many years. He also enjoyed golfing and may be remembered for wearing his Hawaiian shirts and shorts (no matter the weather).
David was a truck driver for Ruan, retiring in 2011. Prior to working for Ruan, he was employed by Gladieux Refinery in Fort Wayne, IN.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 55 year, Rosemarie Weiland of Decatur; two daughters, Helen (Jose Nunez) Weiland of Lexington, SC and Kathi Weiland of Decatur; two brothers, Richard (Jo) Weiland of Decatur and Lynford Weiland of Monroe, IN; five grandchildren, Christian Weiland, D’Andre Weiland, Gracelynn Weiland, and Matthew Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Addy Weiland, Brooks Weiland, Matthew Johnson, Jr., and Naira Weiland.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Weiland, and his grandson, Daniel Johnson.
The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to the Parkview Heart Institute or the American Cancer Society.
