What started out as a close match turned into an 18-stroke victory for the Adams Central Flying Jets against their rivals, South Adams, with the two teams who share the links of Wabash Valley playing each other on the front nine Monday afternoon.
Londyn Smith came out of nowhere to fire an outstanding round of 40 to earn medalist honors. She had been hovering around the 48 or 49 range for most of her rounds this year, with her previous best front nine score being a 49. Smith made birdies on No. 8 and on No. 9 to negate a few double bogeys and register the +4 round.

The Jets also had the second and third-best scores with a 46 from Lilly Hurst and a 47 carded by Tenley Hendricks.
Hurst’s round, like Smith’s, represented her best round on any course this year, while Hendricks had shot 65 earlier in the year on the front. Hendricks’ 47 was her best nine-hole score of the season.
Julia Arnold shot 48 to lead the Starfires.
Megan Yoder played her best golf of the year and carded her best round (51) of the season.
