Darrell L. Burgess, 91 of Geneva, Indiana, passed away on September 5, 2024, his birthday, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
Darrell was born on September 5, 1933, in Decatur, Indiana to Wilbur and Velma (Jacks) Burgess. He graduated from Geneva High School and worked at NAAS Foods and Red Gold throughout his life. Darrell married Duretta Maxine (Herman) Burgess on May 22, 1955, in Geneva, Indiana. Duretta preceded him in death on October 29, 2017. Darrell served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Geneva and enjoyed spending his time fishing, especially being at the Little Bouse Lake in Cromwell.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and daughter, Vickie Jarrell.
Loving survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Leo) Kahn, grandchildren, Mitch Shaffer, Kyle (Maci) Andrews, Jenna (Phillip) Corwin and Brion (Caressa) Kahn, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, son-in-law Dave Jarrell, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home located at 100 N Washington St. Geneva, IN 46740, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm and again on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will begin at 11am Monday with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in Bluffton, Indiana where military rites will be performed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Geneva V.F.W. or Geneva Volunteer Fire Department.
