The Norwell Knights had three of the top five scores in Saturday’s Bi-County meet at Timber Ridge, but it was Emma Schwartz who stole the show with an outstanding round to take medalist honors for the Bluffton Tigers with a 79.

Schwartz played the back nine at just +1 and a birdie on the 15th hole kept her chances of breaking 80 alive. She won the event by six strokes.
Ellie Gatton led the way for the Knights. The No. 1 finished with a solid round of 42-43 for an 85 to finish second by four strokes.

Julia Arnold of South Adams took third place individually with an 87. A birdie on the par three No. 3 and another on No. 12 were the highlights of her day. Julia’s previous best 18-hole round was an 89 on her home course.

Brooklyn Green finished tenth for the Starfires. Her round of 100 represented her two best nine-hole scores and with them, her best 18-hole score of her career.

“It was a wet morning,” noted SA coach Chris Toledo. “The girls had a positive outlook the whole day. Julia and Brooklyn weaved their balls well through many obstacles at Timber Ridge. There were too many penalty strokes again between the team. Overall, the tournament went smoothly.”
Southern Wells turned in an admirable performance and finished the day in second place with a 392.
Bellmont’s Ella Hockemeyer played her part as the Braves’ No. 1 by shooting her best 18-hole round of the year with a 94, tying for fifth place.
The best round of the day may have been from Adams Central’s No. 5, Tenley Hendricks, who had been working on crossing the 60-stroke threshold in her nine-hole rounds this season. She turned in a scorecard of 54-53 for easily the best performance of her career.
