17 teams competed in Taylor University’s high school cross country open Saturday and the Adams Central Flying Jets performed admirably, slotting in behind some of the premier cross country teams in the state and beating local rivals Norwell and Southern Wells in the standings.
The Jets got a big performance from Trevor Schwartz, who finished 21st and flirted with a 17-minute pace, to finish in eighth place. Schwartz’s 17:02 was 45 seconds better than his previous best this season.
Ethan Crockett was just four seconds behind Schwartz with a significant drop in his season-best time, as well.
Vince Laukhuf cut 80 seconds from his season best in a great effort for the Jets.
