A strong round of 97 by Starfire No. 1 Julia Arnold helped the South Adams Starfires take sixth place in the Monroe Central Invite Saturday.
Northeastern won the event with an excellent round of 384. The Starfires were a couple dozen strokes back at 418.
The back end of the lineup had the best performance Saturday, with No. 4 and No. 5 playing their best rounds of the year. Nora Ringger scored for the Stars with her 106 and Kendall Minger also contributed with a personal-best round of 111.

Minger’s 18-hole score was 11 strokes better than her round at Honeywell earlier in the season.
Other scores for the Stars included a 104 for Brooklyn Green and a 114 for Megan Yoder.
Head coach Chris Toledo surmised that the Starfires had a bit of an advantage Saturday because of the setting of the home course for Monroe Central.
“It’s surrounded by corn and beans,” he noted happily, “it’s all we know!”

On a more serious note, Toledo pointed out that the increasing temperatures made a big difference on every team as the rounds rolled on.

The Starfires are back in action Tuesday for another ACAC match at the Portland Golf Course against the Jay County Patriots.
