Trailing Blackford 1-0 Saturday morning, Bekah Patterson fired in a corner in the final minute and Lindsay LeFever banged it home to salvage a draw for the soccer Starfires.
After losing a lead against Blackhawk earlier in the week, the Starfires looked to be on the verge of suffering another loss to a potential sectional opponent in October, but the set piece score gives the team a much more positive outlook on the postseason going forward.
The Starfires will play an even more difficult opponent Tuesday when they travel to Canterbury. The Cavaliers would be in the same sectional as South Adams, but they’ve been moved up to 2A because of the success factor.
